Senior BJP leader and six-time MLA Anil Vij announced that he will stake a claim for the Chief Minister’s post if the party secures a majority in the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections. Vij’s remarks come after the party indicated that current Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini would be the CM if the BJP retains power.
Vij’s Push for Leadership
Addressing the media about the upcoming polls, Vij, a former Haryana Minister, emphasized his long-standing service and seniority. “I have never asked for anything from the party until now… But this time, based on my seniority, I am claiming the Chief Minister’s post. People from Haryana and even those in Ambala tell me that I am the most senior leader, so why haven’t I become Chief Minister yet. On the demand of the people and on the basis of my seniority, I will stake my claim,” he said.
Vision for Haryana
Anil Vij added that if he is chosen as Chief Minister, he would transform the state’s future. “If the party appoints me as the Chief Minister of Haryana, I will change the destiny and picture of Haryana,” he stated.
Context of Leadership Changes
In March, Manohar Lal Khattar was replaced by Nayab Singh Saini as the Chief Minister of Haryana. Notably, Vij was excluded from the new cabinet formed earlier this year, intensifying speculation about his next political move.
