Amidst Amit Shah’s J&K Visit, Three More Separatist Groups Break Away From Hurriyat

In Jammu and Kashmir, three more separatist groups have officially severed ties with the Hurriyat Conference and pledged their allegiance to the Constitution of India. This development occurred during Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s ongoing three-day visit to the region.

The leaders of the departing groups—Mr. Nakash of the Islamic Political Party JK, Mr. Rashid of the Muslim Democratic League JK, and Mr. Andrabi of the Kashmir Freedom Front—announced their decision in a joint statement. They emphasized their disassociation from the Hurriyat Conference, which is a coalition of around 22 separatist parties in Jammu and Kashmir, stating that their organizations no longer share any affiliation with entities promoting a separatist agenda.

In their statement, the leaders expressed their belief that the Hurriyat has failed to effectively address the aspirations and grievances of the people in Jammu and Kashmir. “We firmly dissociate ourselves from the ideology of the Hurriyat Conference,” they declared, highlighting a growing discontent with separatist narratives.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah hailed this development as a “significant demonstration of the people’s faith in the Constitution of India.” He remarked on social media platform X, “Three more organizations like Jammu Kashmir Islamic Political Party, Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Democratic League, and Kashmir Freedom Front have distanced themselves from the Hurriyat. This is a testament to the strengthening belief in unity and constitutional governance in the valley.”

Shah noted that this recent shift adds to the growing momentum, as at least 11 parties have distanced themselves from the Hurriyat in less than a month. He reinforced Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a “united and powerful India,” indicating that these changes reflect a broader commitment to national integrity among the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
