Amid speculation of guard change, BJP president JP Nadda says ‘BS Yediyurappa is running Karnataka well’

Amid speculation about a change of guard in Karnataka, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president JP Nadda today lauded Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa for doing a good job.

Nadda ruled out any leadership crisis in the southern state and said that BSY is running Karnataka well.

“He has done a good job. He is running Karnataka well. Yediyurappa is handling things on his own,” the BJP president said.

Nadda’s remarks are significant as it came hours after the Karnataka CM said he will take an appropriate decision, once he receives directions from the BJP high command this evening, regarding his continuation in the post.

“By evening once it comes, you will also get to know about it, once it comes I will take an appropriate decision,” Yediyurappa had said.

This statement from Nadda comes after more than 500 Veerashaiva-Lingayat seers from different parts of Karnataka demanded that Yediyurappa should be allowed to continue in office.

On a call given by Balehosur Math seer Dingaleshwara Swami, Rudramuni Swami of Tiptur and Basavakumar Swami of Chitradurga, the seers organised a conclave at the Palace Grounds and passed a resolution in favour of Yediyurappa.

Speaking on the occasion, Dingaleshwar Swami said that Karnataka will face more problems if the CM is removed.

“It is not proper to remove Yediyurappa. We have congregated here to boost the morale of the chief minister. We are neither in favour nor opposed to anyone. Our sole objective is to see that the Chief Minister, who is doing good work, should be allowed to continue,” he added.

For the last three days, seers belonging to various communities including Veerashiva-Lingayats have been meeting and expressing their solidarity with Yediyurappa.

A group of seers even issued a warning to the central leaders saying if they chose to replace Yediyurappa, then the BJP will pay a heavy price during forthcoming elections in the state.
