Amid talks of leadership change in Karnataka, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa’s son BY Vijayendra on Saturday met BJP high command in Delhi.

The Chief Minister, whose exit seems imminent, is expected to take a major decision on July 26 when he will complete two years in office.

Yediyurappa recently said that he will have to abide by the decision of the BJP high command, giving some credence to speculation that his exit as chief minister is on the cards.

“Till now I’ve not been asked to resign. When the directions come, I’ll quit and work for the party. I’ve not recommended any name. The party high command has not said anything to me. Let’s see what will happen after July 26,” Yediyurappa said on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Union Minister for Coal, Mines and Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi, whose name is doing the rounds as Yediyurappa’s possible successor, said that the BJP top leadership has not spoken to him about it, and it is only the media which is discussing the matter.

“No one has spoken to me about it (succeeding Yediyurappa). It’s only the media, which is discussing it.As no one has spoken to me, there is no need to react to it,” Joshi told reporters, PTI reported.

Asked what if he is made the chief minister, the Union Minister quipped, “I never answer hypothetical questions with ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’.. I don’t want to answer such questions.”

Yediyurappa, amid heightened buzz about his replacement, had visited Delhi earlier this month, and met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and BJP President JP Nadda.

The visit set off speculation within the political circles that whether the party was working out a succession plan.
