Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) DG Dr Balram Bhargava announced that Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs) will be allowed at all government and private health facilities from now on and no accreditation will be required. Home-based testing solutions are being explored, he added.

Before confirming the national positivity rate at around 21 per cent, Dr Bhargava revealed that on April 30 this year, 19,45,299 tests were conducted, the highest ever in the world.

The total active COVID-19 cases in the country dipped to 37,15,221 today with a net decline of 30,016 cases being recorded in a span of 24 hours for the first time after 61 days, said the Health Ministry.
