Abir Gulaal, starring Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor, is currently in the middle of a controversy after the Pahalgam terror attack. The movie was supposed to mark Pakistani actor Fawad Khan’s comeback in Bollywood but it facing intense scrutiny. The film which was originally scheduled for release on May 9, will not be allowed to release in India. Film Federations in India openly opposed the release of the film and have also warned the makers of taking action against them.

In the midst of the controversy, “Abir Gulal” promotional posts vanished from Kapoor’s Instagram profile, speculation suggesting that the actress herself had removed the posts amid rising backlash for starring Pakistani actor Fawad Khan, her team has now provided clarification on the matter. According to a report by Times Now, the posts had originally been uploaded as Instagram collabs, meaning the actual deletions were made by the film’s production team, which resulted in the content being removed from Vaani’s profile as well.

Following the terror attack, tensions between India and Pakistan have intensified. In a series of retaliatory actions, India has banned several Pakistani YouTube channels, dramas, and even Instagram accounts of Pakistani celebrities including Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, Atif Aslam, and Hania Aamir.

As many India actors and celebrities condemned the attack in Pahalgam, Fawad Khan also joined them and expressed his grief over the loss of lives in the terror attack and condemned it. He wrote on Instagram, “Deeply saddened to hear the news of the heinous attack in Pahalgam. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of this horrifying incident and we pray for strength and healing for their families in this difficult time.”
