Ajmer Sex Scandal: POCSO Court Convicts 6 Accused After 32 Years

In the Ajmer 1992 Sex Scandal, POCSO court  gives historic verdict and declares 6 accused as guilty. All the accused were presented before the court today. The court to give its verdict in this case at 2 pm on August 20. Meanwhile, one of the accused is still on the run.

The POSCO court found the accused Nafees Chishti, Naseem alias Tarzan, Salim Chishti, Iqbal Bhati, Sohail Ghani, Syed Jameen Hussain guilty of the crime. In 1992, the accused gangraped more than 100 girl students of Ajmer’s famous Mayo College and blackmailed them by taking their photographs. 4 accused in the scandal have already served their sentence. After the court declared them guilty, the police has taken all accused into their custody.

What Happened To The 18 Accused?

As per the information, total 18 were accused in the sex scandal that happened 32 years ago. 9 have already been sentenced, one accused committed suicide and one more was charged by court for molesting a boy. The court had declared one accused as fugitive. The others have today been declared guilty by the court today.

Also, let us inform you that 6 accused in this case completed their trial in July this year. The verdict was dated to be announced on 8 August but the court will give its verdict in this case today.

Accused Reached High Court

8 accused who were sentenced to life imprisonment in the case appealed in the High Court against the verdict of the DJ Court. In the year 2001, Court acquitted 4 accused in the sex scandal whereas the other four’s sentence was upheld.

Four Appealed Supreme Court

The other Four accused appealed in the Supreme Court in such a situation. The Supreme Court announced its verdict in the case and reduced the sentence of all four from life imprisonment to 10 years in 2003. As the accused had already served 10 years of jail sentence, so all were released from jail.
