Ajay Devgn’s much awaited sequel to the 2012 action-comedy Son of Sardaar is all set to release this Friday, August 1. Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora and co-starring Mrunal Thakur, the film is gearing up for a theatrical debut amid fierce box office competition.
The release, initially scheduled for July 25, was pushed by a week. To draw audiences to theatres, the makers have announced a 50% discount on tickets for the opening day. Jio Studios, the film’s producers, revealed the promotional offer via BookMyShow.

The discount applies to bookings made for two tickets, with a maximum cap of Rs 200 off.
However, Son of Sardaar 2 will face stiff competition at the box office. Saiyaara, starring debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, released on July 18 and has been a surprise blockbuster, collecting over Rs 400 crore globally.
Adding to the pressure, the Ajay Devgn starrer will clash with Siddhant Chaturvedi-Triptii Dimri Starrer Dhadak 2 on its release day and will have just two weeks to perform before the arrival of one of the year’s biggest releases War 2. Directed by Ayan Mukerji and starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, War 2 is slated for an August 14 release and is expected to dominate screens nationwide.

Apart from Ajay Devgn, the movie also stars Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan and Sanjay Mishra in the lead roles. ‘Son Of Sardaar 2’ also features the late actor Mukul Dev, who passed away on May 23, 2025, a few months before the release of his movie.
The first part of ‘Son Of Sardaar 2’ was released in 2012 and also starred Sonakshi Sinha, Juhi Chawla and Sanjay Dutt.
