Aishwarya Rai has given several memorable performances in her career but her role in ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ has been a fan favourite. From her regal beauty to her outfits, everything in ‘Jodha Akbar’ was praiseworthy. The Academy has given tribute to the costume of the film displaying the red lehenga worn by Aishwarya at the Academy Museum’s Color In Motion Exhibition. Neeta Lulla designed all the stunning outfits for ‘Jodhaa Akbar’.
Sharing the video and giving details about the outfit, the official Instagram page of The Academy wrote, “A lehenga fit for a queen, designed for the silver screen. In JODHA AKBAR (2008), Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s red wedding lehenga is a feast for the eyes: vibrant zardozi embroidery, centuries-old craftsmanship, and a hidden gem—quite literally. Look closely and you’ll spot a peacock, India’s national bird, made entirely of jewels. Neeta Lulla didn’t design a costume; she crafted a legacy. Step into history (and color) at the Academy Museum’s COLOR IN MOTION exhibition. Link in the Academy’s bio for tickets.”
Fans are delighted to see the Academy appreciating Indian cinema. One Instagram user wrote, “It was so cool to see this representation in person at the exhibit! More of this please.” Another fan commented, “India needs more Oscars. India needs to be the next country with the most Oscar wins followed by the United Kingdom, Italy, and Japan.”
Other fans also compared the aesthetics in the Indian film and wrote, “Dear Hollywood, Can you beat these aesthetics.” Another person commented, “The Caption – @neeta_lulla didn’t design a costume, she crafted a legacy, Such a beautiful classic piece of Indian Cinema. And befitting for Queen – be it Jodha Bai or Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Thank you, @ashutoshgowariker and @agppl.”
