Come January 26, India will bear witness to its first-ever metaverse concert when Punjabi singing legend Daler Mehndi takes the stage in the virtual world. The star of the original Green Screen technology revolution in Indian music will become only the fifth singer in history to have a metaverse concert. Other performers who have had metaverse concerts include Travis Scott, Justin Bieber, Marshmallow and Ariana Grande.

During the metaverse concert, Daler Mehndi will be performing his evergreen hit albums, like Namoh Namoh, India India and Jago India! The singer will also dedicate the exclusive and first performance to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on this special occasion.

Now, in an exclusive interaction with Daler Mehndi has opened up on his experience singing in the metaverse and why did he dedicate this iconic performance to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Speaking about his decision to dedicate his performance to PM Modi, the iconic singer said, “If I wanted to choose, we could have chosen readymade party favourites like Tunak Tunak Tun or something iconic like Rang De Basanti. However, I realised that the concert will happen on January 26, which is an iconic day for India (Republic Day) and if this turns a new leaf for the country then I should croon Namoh Namoh, India India and Jago India.”

He further added, “The reason I am dedicating the performance to Prime Minister Narendra Modi is because he is instrumental in launching digital India and connecting the country to the rest of the world. Aage baro, chulo aasmaan and jaago India.”

As for entering the metaverse, Daler opined, “Music is in huge demand all over the world. A person might be sad, happy or require a bit of energy to get going, music helps and heals at all times. Entering the metaverse not only benefits me and others like me, but it also spreads our music all across the world.”

The iconic singer concluded, “Metaverse is not a small concept. I will become the fifth person in the world to have a concert in the metaverse. I loved the concept. Ye mere naam se hi jaana jaega in India. That’s why I agreed to do it.”
