After Tariffs On India, Trump Announces Oil Deal With Pakistan, Says: ‘Maybe They’ll Be Selling To New Delhi Someday!’

Hours after US President Donald Trump slapped a 25% tariff and an additional unspecified penalty on India, he announced that he had just concluded a trade deal with Pakistan. He took to his Truth Social account to share details of the White House’s striking deal with Islamabad. Trump noted that both countries are poised to work together to develop oil reserves in Pakistan.

Maybe They’ll Be Selling Oil To New Delhi Someday – Trump

Shifting his tone, Trump floated the idea that the terror-harbouring country might sell oil to New Delhi someday. He wrote, “We have just concluded a Deal with the Country of Pakistan, whereby Pakistan and the United States will work together on developing their massive Oil Reserves. We are in the process of choosing the Oil Company that will lead this Partnership. Who knows, maybe they’ll be selling Oil to New Delhi someday!”

Trump Says, ‘Other Countries Are Making Offers for Tariff Reduction’

Trump’s remarks came after he announced a 25% tariff on imports from India and a penalty on the purchase of Russian oil, starting August 1. He further stated in his post that several countries are making offers to Washington for a reduction in tariffs. He said, “Likewise, other Countries are making offers for a Tariff reduction. All of this will help reduce our Trade Deficit in a very major way. A full report will be released at the appropriate time. Thank you for your attention to this matter. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

‘Will Take All Steps To Secure National Interest’: MoCI

Following the announcement, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in an official statement, said that the government is “studying its implications” and that it will take all necessary steps to secure the national interest. “The Government has taken note of a statement by the US President on bilateral trade. The Government is studying its implications,” the statement read.
