Renowned Indian actor Shatrughan Sinha criticised Mukesh Khanna for repeatedly attacking his daughter, Sonakshi Sinha, over her error related to Ramayan.
Sonakshi Sinha recently spoke about Mukesh Khanna’s repeated comments regarding her mistake in the episode in which a question related to “sanjeevani booti” from the Ramayan was asked while she was on Kaun Banega Crorepati. During that episode, Sonakshi had trouble remembering which character Lord Hanuman brought the healing herb for and used it as a lifeline. Mukesh Khanna has often criticised her for this mistake. However, Sonakshi’s recent comments countered his continuous remarks. In 2020, her father, Shatrughan Sinha, also shared his frustration with Mukesh for consistently criticising her over this incident.
The actor didn’t mention him by name but questioned him directly, asking who gave him the authority to act as the ‘guardian’ of the Hindu religion. In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Shatrughan expressed his thoughts and said: “I believe someone has a problem with Sonakshi not answering a question on the Ramayan. Firstly, what qualifies this person as an expert on all things to do with the Ramayan? And who has appointed him the guardian of the Hindu religion?”
Shatrughan added, “I am very proud of all my three children. Sonakshi became a star on her own. I never had to launch her career. She is a daughter any father would be proud to have. Not answering a question on the Ramayan doesn’t disqualify Sonakshi from being a good Hindu. She doesn’t need a certificate of approval from anyone,”.
Shatrughan has woven elements of the Ramayan into his personal life. He chose to name his sons Luv and Kush after the characters from the epic. Additionally, he named his home “Ramayan,” reflecting his devotion to this legendary story.
Sonakshi reply to Mukesh Khanna
In a recent interview, Khanna criticised her father, the well-known actor Shatrughan Sinha, for not passing down cultural knowledge to her, even though he is a significant figure in the entertainment industry. Sonakshi responded to her Instagram stories to express her disappointment with Khanna’s comments. “I recently read a statement you made saying that it’s my father’s fault I did not answer a question about the Ramayana correctly on a show I attended many, many years back,” she wrote. “Firstly, let me remind you there were two women on the hot seat that day who did not know the answer to the same question, but you choose to keep taking my name, and only my name, for reasons which are quite obvious.”
