After Kumar Vishwas, Punjab Police books Alka Lamba for making false statements against Arvind Kejriwal

After filing an FIR against former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Kumar Vishwas for “inflammatory statements” against AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal in the run-up to February 20 state assembly elections, Punjab Police has now served notice to Congress leader Alka Lamba.
Punjab Police’s Special Investigation Team, Rupnagar issued a notice to Alka Lamba to appear before the SIT at 10 am on or before 26th April at Sadar Rupnagar Police Station for investigation.
Lamba had allegedly made false statements against AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal before February 20 Punjab polls.
‘Small sanghis cannot scare me’
The Congress leader shared a copy of the notice on Twitter and claimed she was threatened by the cops who told her that there will be consequences if she fails to appear before the SIT.
Calling herself a Gandhian soldier of Congress, Lamba said if she was not afraid of “big sanghis” then “small sanghis” cannot scare her.
Vishwas, a founding member of the Aam Aadmi Party had alleged that Arvind Kejriwal had connections with separatists in Punjab, and people who sympathised with separatists used to come to his house for meetings during the last assembly polls.
“A case FIR number 25 dated 12.04.22 has been registered u/s 153, 153A, 505, 505 (2) , 116 r/w 143, 147, 323, 341, 120-B IPC and 125 Representation of Peoples Act,” read the FIR.
Kumar Vishwas told to produce evidence to support his allegations
“The complainant said that when he was campaigning in a village along with AAP supporters, some masked men stopped them and called them Khalistani. Similar incidents have been regularly occurring. All this started after Kumar Vishwas gave inflammatory statements against AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal on news channels/ social media platforms alleging AAP links with separatist elements,” the FIR read.
It further said that due to these statements and videos, the peaceful atmosphere of the state of Punjab is likely to be disturbed.
The cops have asked the poet-turned-politician to produce whatever evidence he has to support his allegations.
