The Adani Foundation, in collaboration with Shivpuri district administration, Madhya Pradesh, laid the foundation stone of a garment training and production centre in Shivpuri, with an aim to train more than 1,500 women in apparel production. The upcoming centre will train the women over a period of three years and will be equipped with over 600 latest industrial garment production machines. The move highlights the Adani Foundation’s commitment to bolster the growth and well-being of women by empowering them with income-generating skills and sustainable livelihood opportunities.

Besides providing advanced training in garment stitching to the women, the centre, which will be run under Madhya Pradesh State Rural Livelihoods Mission, will also facilitate market linkages to enable women to sell their creations and fetch fair prices for them. Post completion of their training, the women will become experts in stitching garments such as shirts, t-shirts, trousers, sleeveless jackets, ladies kurtis, tops, skirts and school uniforms.

Jyotiraditya Scindia, Hon’ble Minister of Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, Government of India, laid the foundation stone of the centre along with Shri Pradhuman Singh Tomar, Hon’ble Minister of Energy, Madhya Pradesh Government, in the presence of senior leadership of the Adani Foundation, public representatives and government officials.

On the occasion, Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia said, “This is the era of empowerment. We must showcase your (women’s) talents on the world map. I express my heartfelt gratitude to Shri Gautam Adani ji and the Adani Foundation for accepting my request and swiftly initiating the project. Jackets and other garments made by my talented sisters are soon going to enter national and international markets, thanks to this upcoming world-class centre. The centre will have state-of-the-art machines, giving employment opportunities to over 1500 women”.

In his remarks, Dr Abhishek Lakhtakia, Chief Executive Officer of Adani Foundation, said, “A new chapter unfolds today. We are building a garment production and training centre, which will be equipped with advanced machines. The training will be facilitated through a highly professional institute. You (women) will also be able to fetch premium and fair prices for the garments you stitch. 250 women have already completed their training. During their training itself, they have received work orders worth up to Rs 15 lakhs, which they are working to complete.”

Through its holistic interventions, the Adani Foundation enables growth and development for all sections of society. It empowers lives and broadens people’s scope for economic opportunities through community-based approaches.
