Aadhaar Card latest update: Lost or forgot your 12-digit Aadhaar number? here’s step by step guide to retrieve it

Aadhaar number is a 12-digit identification number issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to the residents of India after completing the verification process. Any individual who is Indian can voluntarily enroll to obtain an Aadhaar number only once. The Aadhaar card facilitates various government services. Additionally, subsidies, benefits, and other services can be provided using the resident’s Aadhaar number.

How To Retrieve Lost Aadhaar Card?

But what if your Aadhaar card gets lost? In that case, don’t worry, as you can easily retrieve your Aadhaar details online by using the “Retrieve UID/EID” option on the UIDAI website. Just enter your registered mobile number or email for verification.

How To Retrieve Lost/Forgotten Aadhaar Number?

When the mobile number is linked with Aadhaar:

On the other hand, to retrieve the lost or forgotten Aadhaar number, you can simply visit: https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/retrieve-eid-uid

Here’s Step-by-step guide:

  • Please select your requirement
  • Aadhaar/EID you want to retrieve
  • Enter full name as in Aadhaar, mobile number/email linked with Aadhaar, and Captcha, followed by OTP.
  • After mobile OTP based authentication, the Aadhaar number/EID will be sent through SMS to the linked mobile number. This service is free of cost.

When the mobile number is not linked with Aadhaar:

  • Option 1: Aadhaar number can be retrieved with the help of an operator at the Aadhaar enrolment centre using the “Print Aadhaar” service.
  • Option 2: Retrieving Lost/forgotten Aadhaar number by calling the UIDAI Helpline number 1947.
