’24 Crore Muslims Cannot Be Thrown Into The Ocean’ – Farooq Abdullah Calls For Unity And Equality

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah expressed deep concerns over the growing divide in society based on religious lines. Speaking to reporters at party headquarters in Srinagar, Abdullah emphasized the importance of brotherhood and urged the government to take immediate action to ensure the safety and equality of all citizens, particularly the Muslim community, which he noted is feeling increasingly vulnerable.

“I prayed to God to ease out of troubles and keep the brotherhood intact,” Abdullah stated. “The divide that is being created right now should not succeed. Those who seek to divide our people based on religion must be thwarted. We cannot allow such divisive forces to prevail.”

Abdullah highlighted the necessity of treating all communities with respect and fairness, asserting that the government cannot simply disregard the rights of 24 crore Muslims in India. “There is no doubt that Muslims are feeling unsafe. I will ask the govt of India to stop that. 24 cr Muslims cannot be thrown into the ocean,” he asserted, calling for equal treatment under the law and a steadfast commitment to upholding the Constitution.

Reflecting on the historical context of Kashmiri Pandits, Abdullah reiterated his openness to their return, stating, “When I was CM, we tried to facilitate their return. It is their choice when they want to come back. Our hearts are open for them.”

In his remarks, Abdullah also touched on international issues, welcoming the ceasefire in Lebanon but condemning the ongoing violence in Gaza. He called for an immediate ceasefire in the region and urged the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council, to ensure humanitarian aid reaches those in need.
