On the first day of the 1st Test between Bangladesh and South Africa, which took place at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium, Dhaka on October 21, Kagiso Rabada achieved a major milestone. He became the sixth South African player to achieve 300 Test wickets. His name is now etched in the legends list that includes Dale Steyn, Shaun Pollock and Allan Donald. He achieved the feat in his first over as he dismissed former Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim, for 11 runs with a simply great delivery that jags back and uprooted the stumps. This places him third-fastest South African to achieve 300 Test wickets coming in his 65th match, as for comparison purposes, Steyn reached the mark in 61 Tests and Donald did it in 63.

Rabada’s Magic In BAN Vs SA, 1st Test

Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first, and opening with the bowl Rabada combined with Wiaan Mulder, dismissed the opener Shadman Islam in the very first over. Next, he sent Mominul Haque back in his second over, and in his third one, the captain, Najmul Hossain Shanto. Rabada has been going quite well for himself of late. He has taken 8 wickets in a two-Test series against the West Indies in August.

Kagiso Rabada: A Masterclass Bowler

Ever since he made his Test debut against India in 2015, Rabada is known to be one of the best Test bowlers. He immediately turned many eyes on himself by taking 13 wickets in a match against England in 2016, with two five-wicket hauls, making him the youngest South African to take a ten-wicket haul in a Test.

By 2018 he became the number one ranked Test bowler in the ICC rankings, he was just 22 years old when this feat was achieved.

At the age of just 23 years and 50 days, he surpassed Harbhajan Singh’s record for being the youngest to take 150 Test wickets. He topped all test bowlers in 2018 with 52 wickets. He has become a nightmare for batters in different types of conditions with his capacity to swing the ball, mastery of reverse swing, and delivering short balls.
