The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lashed out at Congress for ‘anti-Hindu’ remarks made by its leader Satish Jarkiholi. Addressing a press conference, BJP national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said that Congress is hurting Hindu sentiments for votes.
He said that Congress leaders should learn from Arthur Schopenhauer, Werner Heisenberg on what Hindusim is.
“It is a matter of sadness that the year of the festival of freedom (75 years of Independence) is filled with so much poison. The promoters of secular politics, whether they are the oldest or the newest, their nature has not changed,” he said.
“The nature is that the meaning of secularism is to express hatred and disrespect towards Hinduism,” he added while slamming the grand old party.
BJP slams Rahul Gandhi
“What mantra is Rahul ji saying in the ears of people during the Bharat Jodo Yatra…. that if you want to hurt Hindu sentiments and identity to add votes, then don’t be left behind.
“There was a time when people used to say that Hindus are terrorists, Hindus are Talibani and Hindus are Bokoharam. These feats also belong to the oldest party in the politics of India,” Sudhanshu Trivedi said.
Sudhanshu Trivedi’s press conference came days after Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) Secretary Satish Jarkiholi sparked a row after calling Hindu a ‘dirty’ term.
Satish Jarkiholi had said, “They speak about Hindu Dharm…this that, where did the Hindu word come from? Is it ours? It is Persian. Persian is from Iran, Iraq, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan. What is Bharat’s relationship with it? Then, how did Hindu become yours? There should be a debate on this.”
Later, while justifying his statement he said, “Let everyone prove I’m wrong. If I am wrong, I’ll resign as MLA and not just apologise for my statement,”
Satish Jarkiholi’s statement has sparked a massive outrage with political leaders slamming him and Congress for the ‘anti-Hindu’ remark. While BJP is terming it an attempt to appease minority voters, Congress has distanced itself from the remark calling it “personal opinion”.
