With the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction done and dusted, fans across the world have been waiting for the official schedule of IPL 2022 – which will be a 10-team event.
As reported by Cricbuzz, Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, Brabourne Stadium and DY Patil Stadium will be hosting 55 matches of the showpiece event while MCA International Stadium in Pune is expected to host 15 matches in the league stage.
The report added that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is now contemplating over two dates for the start of the tournament. While March 26 (Saturday) is the preference of the official broadcaster, March 27 is another date that is being discussed.
The final decision regarding the dates and venues will be taken at the IPL Governing Council meeting scheduled to be held on February 24.
The venues for the playoffs are yet to be decided. The tournament will end before May 29.
Earlier, the IPL mega auction was held in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13 where all ten teams built their teams from scratch.
