Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal held a meeting  on the rise of cases of the coronavirus and its variant Omicron, and said that the government is prepared to deal with up to one lakh cases daily.

Directing officials to wrap up preparations to tackle any surge, including building the capacity to follow up on over one lakh positive persons in home isolation, the Delhi CM said the capacity to conduct 3 lakh tests daily has also been created.

He further said that the AAP government is strengthening home isolation management protocol and urged people with mild symptoms to stay at home, don’t rush to the hospital.

‘Home-isolation module is being strengthened’

“Under our home isolation module, our healthcare workers will visit patients at their residence, conduct tele-counselling and also give a kit containing oximeter etc to them,” he added.

Addressing the media, Kejriwal said that the government is increasing manpower besides stocking medicines for the coming few months.

On oxygen availability, he said that the government is arranging medical oxygen and 15 oxygen tankers will be delivered to us in the next 3 weeks.

In order to ward off panic, Kejriwal said that every person tested for COVID-19 would receive a phone call from the government and assured them of all the necessary help and treatment if found positive.

Patients in home isolation will be counselled by the doctors for 10 days

“As soon someone tests positive, a phone call will be made to the person and the next day a medical team will visit the person to provide him with a kit containing medicines and other items,” he said.

Also, patients in home isolation will be counselled by the doctors for 10 days, said the Chief Minister.

The daily number of fresh cases of COVID-19 has started going up in Delhi with the national capital on Wednesday reporting 125 cases.

Meanwhile, the number of Omicron-infected people in Delhi jumped to 64 on Thursday, from 57 on Wednesday.
