Hours after Punjab Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu called Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan his “elder brother” during a trip to Kartarpur Sahib, the BJP said that the opposition party sees terror groups like IS and Boko Haram in Hindutva while it finds a “bhai jaan” in Khan.
A video of Sidhu being welcomed by a Pakistani official on behalf of Khan has gone viral on social media platforms in which the Congress leader can be heard saying that Khan was like a “bada bhai” to him and that he loved him a lot.
Responding to questions on BJP’s allegations of him calling Pakistan PM Imran Khan his ‘big brother’, the Punjab Congress chief said, “Let BJP say whatever they want.”
‘Have we forgotten martyrdom of our soldiers in Poonch so soon?’
Congress MP Manish Tewari also reacted saying Imran Khan may be anybody’s elder brother but for India, he is the cat’s paw of the Pakistani deep state that sends arms and narcotics into Punjab through drones and terrorists on a daily basis across LOC in J&K.
Have we forgotten martyrdom of our soldiers in Poonch so soon, he asked.
Calling it a serious matter of concern for India, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra claimed that there was a larger design at work.
‘It is being done for appeasement politics as the Congress still believes that there is a section in India which will be happy with praise for Pakistan. There are no such people in India though,” Patra added.
Saying that Punjab is a border state where Pakistan tries to foment troubles, Patra added that it needs mature and patriotic leadership.
Sidhu is not right for India and Punjab deserves better than him, he added.
Rahul Gandhi’s favourite Navjot Singh Sidhu: Amit Malviya
BJP IT department head Amit Malviya shared a video of the incident and tweeted, “Rahul Gandhi’s favourite Navjot Singh Sidhu calls Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan his “bada bhai”. The last time he had hugged Gen Bajwa, Pakistan Army’s Chief, heaped praises. Is it any surprise that the Gandhi siblings chose a Pakistan loving Sidhu over veteran Amarinder Singh?
Sidhu wants publicity, said Shiromani Akali Dal leader Daljit Singh Cheema
“He has no inkling of responsibilities He says such things deliberately, he knows that if he will speak in favour of Pakistan and their PM, it will be made an issue in India,” he added.
He further said that he wants his late visit to be covered so that the entire world should get to know that he visited Pakistan.
In September, Captain Amarinder Singh had called Sidhu “anti-national” and “incompetent” and vowed to oppose if he is made Congress party’s chief ministerial candidate.
