It was July 19, 2021, when things took a rather ugly turn for Shilpa Shetty’s family after her husband Raj Kundra got arrested. The former Rajasthan Royals owner was accused of the creation and publication of pornographic content on the Hotspots app. Just last night, Kundra and his partner Ryan Thorpe were granted bail and now, he was clicked outside Arthur Road Jail.
He was arrested with 11 others and his initial bail plea was rejected as the Mumbai Police suspected he was the “key conspirator” in producing adult content. For the unversed, Kundra was charged under Section 420 (cheating), 34 (common intention), 292 and 293 (related to obscene and indecent advertisements and displays) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and relevant sections of the IT Act and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act
The Bollywood actress ever since her husband’s arrest has refrained from commenting on the matter. She did however release a statement urging one and all to respect the family’s privacy in such a tough time.
“As a family, we are taking recourse to all our available legal remedies. But, till then I humbly request you – especially as a MOTHER – to respect our privacy for my children’s sake and request you to refrain from commenting on half-baked information without verifying the veracity of the same. I am a proud law-abiding Indian citizen and a hardworking professional for the last 29 years. People have put their faith in ME & I’ve never let anyone down,” read a part of her post.
