Rajpal hilariously recalls how Priyadarshan tore his clothes for Hungama: Kapde fatwa ke paise kamaaye

It was in 2003 that Priyadarshan’s Hungama was released. Co-starring Akshaye Khanna, Rimi Sen, Aftab Shivdasani, Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav, the film remains memorable for its comedy. Years on, Hungama 2 is slated for a release, and Yadav is set to create a ‘hungama‘ on the screen once again.

Ahead of the film’s release, the actor recounted memories of the 2003-film in an exclusive interview with Times Now Digital. Yadav revealed that director Priyadarshan tore his clothes on his first day of the Hungama shooting.

“Priyadarshan ne kapde fatwake paise kamaaye,” said Yadav, hilariously sharing the BTS anecdote from the film. “I got selected for Hungama, went to the set and found out that the climax with 12-15 actors was being shot that day. It was my first day. Badia se shaving karke, ache se gaya tha ki Hungama karne ja rahe hai aur andar galat faimi bhi ho rahi thi ki actor bhi ho gaya hu. When I reached, Priyadarshan ji said ‘call all the artists’. I went, and he said Rajpal come here,” he recalled.

“Charr charr charr, ye baniyan idhar fati, ye udhar fati,” Yadav laughingly said explaining that the director tore his clothes and said, “Now you are looking good.”

“This was my introduction to Hungama. Usme aise kapde fate, lekin jab film dekhi toh mujhe lagta ki thoda aur fatne chaiye tha,” the actor said. Yadav is grateful for all that happened to him after Hungama and said that he received a lot of love.

The actor credits filmmaker Priyadarshan for helping him build ‘roti, kapda aur makaan’ in the business. He said every dialogue of Hungama got him love and hopes that Hungama 2 will see the same fate.

The actor also talked about working with Shilpa Shetty in the upcoming film and said, “Shilpa Shetty matlab hungama.” The actor said everyone on set was a different kind of hungama. The actor, who regards Shetty as his senior in showbiz since she was established as an actress when he started in films, says he respects her for a lot of things.

“I knew Shilpa for a long time, but in this film, we got a chance to become familiar with each other. Iss baar family ki tarah ek doosre ko samajhne ka bhi mauka mila. I feel proud of her, unka kya discipline hai and she’s so positive on the set with everyone. She’s a very good human being,” said the actor, adding that they also made many TikTok videos on the film set.
