The only shuttler to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics from India in the Singles category, PV Sindhu has become the face of Indian badminton over the last few years. The shuttler from Hyderabad earned the country its first silver medal at the sport when it comes to the quadrennial event in 2016 and has now set her sight on the elusive gold.

Sindhu is one of the most decorated shuttlers from India, having won medals all over the world. The 2019 World Championships gold medal at Basel was her finest achievement but the 25-year-old also has gold medals at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and the 2016 South Asian Games at the senior level.

The past couple of years haven’t been the best for Sindhu, with the shuttler failing to win a medal at any of the Super Series since the 2019 Basel Championships. Presently ranked No. 7, Sindhu had last competed at the All England Championships where she was eliminated by Thailand’s Pornpawee Chochuwong in the semi-finals.
