According to Iranian military sources, Behnam Shahriari, a senior officer of the IRGC Quds Force, was killed in an Israeli airstrike in western Iran, which took place at night. Shahriari was in charge of Unit 190 of the Quds Force, whose task was to secretly send weapons to Iran-backed organizations, especially Hezbollah.

The Israeli army (IDF) informed that he was targeted while he was traveling in a vehicle, which was more than 1,000 kilometers from Israel. Israeli intelligence agencies had been trying to kill Shahriari since 2009. Unit 190 had long been leading the supply of weapons from Iran to Lebanon-based Hezbollah, Gaza’s terrorist organizations, and Yemen’s Houthi fighters.

Israel Defence Forces posted on their X handle about the news of the elimination of Behnam Shahriyari, commander of the Quds Force’s Weapons Transfer Unit in the IRGC. Israel Defence Forces wrote, “Shahriyari was responsible for all weapons transfers from the Iranian regime to its proxies across the Middle East in order to directly advance the Iranian regime’s plan to destroy Israel.”

They also mentioned, “Shahriyari also commanded the transfer of hundreds of millions of dollars annually to various terrorist organizations. Furthermore, he led the extensive effort to finance and arm these terrorist organizations—an effort that has resulted in the deaths and injuries of many Israeli civilians and soldiers.”

IDF wrote, “He was eliminated more than 1,000 km from Israel while traveling in western Iran. His elimination represents a severe blow to the ability of the terrorist organizations surrounding Israel to regroup and strengthen after being heavily damaged by the IDF during the war.”
