Amid opposition’s demand to convene a special session of Parliament on Operation Sindoor, the government announced the dates of the monsoon session. The government has announced to hold the monsoon session of Parliament from July 21 to August 12, 2025. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said that the government is ready to discuss Operation Sindoor in Parliament as per the rules.

In this session, signs of confrontation between the opposition and the government are also increasing. While the government wants to push forward economic reforms and legislative agenda, the opposition is engaged in a strategy to corner the government on issues like security policy, Operation Sindoor, Pahalgam terror attack, inflation and unemployment.

Opposition Parties Meeting

The country’s politics has already heated up over Operation Sindoor. 16 parties included in the opposition alliance ‘INDIA’ had a joint meeting on Tuesday with the intention of increasing pressure on the central government. They have demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi to convene a special session of Parliament.

The opposition says that after the statement given by Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan in Singapore, it has become necessary to discuss Operation Sindoor in detail in Parliament. The opposition parties have jointly sent a letter to the Prime Minister, reiterating the demand for convening a special session.

Although the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) did not attend this meeting, but according to the information, a separate letter has also been written to the Prime Minister on behalf of the party. Earlier, Congress, Communist Party of India (Marxist) and TMC had demanded the Prime Minister to convene a special session through separate letters. Now the opposition has intensified its strategy to create collective pressure.

Leaders of major opposition parties like Congress, Samajwadi Party, DMK, TMC, RJD, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray faction), National Conference, CPM, CPI, Indian Union Muslim League, RSP, JMM, VCK, Kerala Congress, MDMK and CPI (ML) participated in this important meeting held on Tuesday.
