Rahul Gandhi On Pahalgam Attack: ‘Perpetrators Have To Pay A Price, PM Shouldn’t Waste Time’

Lok Sabha LoP and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi said the Pahalgam attackers have to pay a price for their deeds. He said the attackers should remember that this cannot be done to India. He said the opposition parties have given its 100% support to the government for any action.

‘Perpetrators have to pay for it properly’

While talking to media persons, Rahul Gandhi said, “I don’t want to comment on how it happened. All I want to say is that those who did this, whoever and wherever they are, they have to pay for this. They have to pay for it properly, not in some half-hearted way, so that they remember that this cannot be done to India. In the meeting of Opposition and government, we have given a clear line, a unanimous line that what has happened is not acceptable; and the entire Opposition will give its 100% support to the government and it is giving all it is support. Narendra Modi has to take action. Entire Opposition stands with him. Those who did this have to pay the price for this. The bereaved families have given a message to the PM through me…They have said that their children have become martyrs and the PM should accord them status and respect of ‘martyrs’.”

‘PM must not dilly-dally’

Rahul Gandhi further said, “I am saying that 28 people have been killed in cold blood. It is pretty clear who is responsible for this. The people who are responsible for this must pay a price. The PM has to take action. The action has to be clear and it has to be strong without any confusion. The PM must not dilly-dally, must not waste time, must make it very clear that India is not going to tolerate this type of nonsense. So, he needs to act…He can act in whatever timeframe he thinks necessary but he has to act soon.”

Rise in ceasefire violations

There has been a rise in ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the LoC. Security forces have intensified anti-terror operations in the Kashmir valley in the aftermath of the Phalgam terror attack that killed 26 people on April 22.
