US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the United States will withdraw from mediation if Russia and Ukraine do not come up with “concrete proposals” to end the conflict. He said the US is gradually running out of patience, and it was a priority for the Trump administration.

‘Administration will take up other important issues‘

US President Donald Trump had vowed to end the war in the White House. Rubio said as the Administration is completing 100 days in the Oval Office, Rubio said that the administration will switch to other important issues.

‘We will step back as mediators’

“We are now at a time where concrete proposals need to be delivered by the two parties on how to end this conflict. If there is no progress, we will step back as mediators in this process,” State Department Tammy Bruce said during a press briefing. Bruce read the message from Marco Rubio.

Trump to decide whether to move forward on diplomacy

She further added that President Trump would decide whether to move forward with diplomacy or not. Trump had said that his Russian President Vladimir Putin was keen to negotiate the peace deal with Ukraine.

Trump had criticised Putin over missile strikes in Ukraine

A few days back , Trump had raised doubts on Putin’s willingness to stop the war and criticised missile strikes in Ukraine.

‘Full and unconditional ceasefire must be the first step’

On the other side, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, “We’re also preparing for talks with the U.S. on new sanctions—we are identifying precisely those pressure points that will most effectively push Moscow toward diplomacy. Russia must take clear steps to end the war, and we insist that a full and unconditional ceasefire must be the first step. Russia has to make that move.”
