Not Virat Kohli Or Rishabh Pant, THIS 25-Years Old Will Lead Delhi In Ranji Trophy

Rishabh Pant has declined the captaincy for Delhi in Ranji Trophy games. Virat Kohli has also been included in the squad but is availability remains a subject of concern. This has led to allowing the 25-year-old Ayush Badoni to continue as skipper for Delhi. The squad for the next two games was announced and the next game of Delhi is against Saurashtra.

The BCCI issued a set of guidelines for the players to be part of the national team which includes the players to represent their respective parent states. This includes senior players such as Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Questions have emerged about Virat Kohli’s participation in the upcoming Ranji Trophy following media reports of a neck injury. The star batsman reportedly developed a neck sprain during the final Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test in Sydney, where he received initial medical attention. The Times of India reports that Kohli has undergone injection treatment, putting his Ranji Trophy appearance in doubt. A Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) insider has indicated that while Kohli remains in consideration for the squad, his inclusion will depend on his availability. Even if he doesn’t participate in matches, there’s a possibility he might join the Delhi team’s training sessions.

Meanwhile, wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant’s situation has taken an interesting turn. While DDCA had anticipated his participation in both matches and offered him the captaincy role, Pant has reportedly declined the leadership position. Instead, he is expected to play under Ayush Badoni’s captaincy.
