Zubeen Garg Death Case: Two Security Personnel Arrested After Cousin’s Custody

The investigation into the mysterious death of popular Assamese singer Zubeen Garg has taken a dramatic turn, with the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arresting two of his long-time security personnel .

ANI reported that the SIT of the Assam Police’s CID took into custody Nandeswar Bora and Paresh Baishya, both of whom had been part of Zubeen’s personal security team for several years.

Cousin and Senior Police Officer Also Arrested

This development comes just a day after Assam Police DSP Sandipan Garg, Zubeen’s cousin, was arrested in connection with the ongoing investigation. His arrest marked a major twist in the high-profile case surrounding the singer’s sudden demise.

So far, the SIT has detained five individuals, including the main event organizer Shyamkanu Mahanta, Zubeen’s manager Siddharth Sharma, bandmate Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, and co-singer Amritprava Mahanta.

Poisoning Allegations Deepen Mystery

Zubeen Garg passed away on September 19 following a reported swimming accident in Singapore, where his cousin Sandipan was said to be present at the time. While initial reports suggested that the singer died while scuba diving, new allegations have emerged claiming foul play.

Zubeen’s bandmate, Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, has alleged that the singer was poisoned, and that a conspiracy was orchestrated “to portray his death as accidental.”

Eyewitnesses Raise Questions

Eyewitnesses have further fueled suspicion by claiming that Zubeen’s manager prevented others from helping him as he struggled in the water and gasped for air. They emphasized that Zubeen was an experienced swimmer, making it unlikely that simple drowning caused his death.

Zubeen had travelled to Singapore to participate in celebrations marking 60 years of India-Singapore diplomatic relations and the India-ASEAN Year of Tourism during the North East India Festival. The three-day event, scheduled from September 19 to 21, was cancelled following the singer’s untimely death.
