Job search company Indeed which helps people find jobs has joined the layoff spree! The company has laid off 2,200 employees which makes around 15 percent of the total workforce. CEO Chris Hyams announced the job cut in an all-hands meeting. Indeed layoffs will be affecting nearly every team, function, level, and region.
Chris Hyams shared a blog post stating, “We anticipate we will be letting approximately 2,200 people go. This is roughly 15 per cent of our team. The specific decisions on who and where to cut were extremely difficult, but they were made with great care.”

Indeed will be informing the employees of their position in the company via Email.
The company will share information directly with everyone impacted and everyone outside of the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, and Japan will receive an email informing them of their status.
An Email with the subject line, “Your Position Has Been Impacted” will be shared if the employee has been laid off. And if the employee is not laid off, the subject will be “Your Position Has Not Been Impacted.”
Indeed Layoffs: CEO Chris Hyams to take 25 per cent pay cut
CEO said he will take a 25 per cent cut in base pay. He said, “my total compensation is directly tied to Indeed revenue growth, and is at risk given current trends.”
He further added, “Leading a company whose mission is to help people get jobs, every single day I think about how important a job is in a person’s life. Losing a job is extraordinarily hard, financially and emotionally.”
Layoff 2023
Layoff spree which began last year worsened in 2023. Hundreds of companies axed lakhs of jobs this year. Companies like Amazon, Meta, Microsoft and other have laid off lakhs of employees.
Recently, Amazon announced to cut 9,000 positions, following two rounds of layoffs since January that affected roughly 18,000 employees.
