Yasir Shah warns Pakistan not to take Virat Kohli easy as he ‘can come back to form any time’

Premier Indian batter Virat Kohli will make his comeback to competitive cricket after an almost six-week break against Pakistan on Sunday (August 28) during India’s Asia Cup opening match. The match between both these arch-rivals will take place in Dubai, and India will be desperate to take revenge for the defeat in last year’s T20 World Cup group stage match.
Pakistan, for the first time in the history of World Cup matches, defeated India last year. They won the contest by 10 wickets, and next Sunday, the match will once again take place at the same venue, and India would like to take the opportunity to settle the scores.
The game is going to be a tight contest and all eyes will be on Virat Kohli to see how he performs. The former Indian captain has been struggling to score big runs this year. He had a forgetful IPL 2022 season and then was unable to convert good starts into big totals during last month’s England tour as well. But despite his lean patch, star Pakistan spinner Yasir Shah has warned his team not to take Virat lightly in the Asia Cup match.
Speaking to Paktv.tv, Yasir said, “Don’t take Virat Kohli easy. Yes, he is not in form because he is struggling to score runs, but he is a world-class player and he can come back to form at any time.”
Virat has a history of doing well against Pakistan, and in the seven matches played against the Men in Green in the shortest format of the game, he has so far scored 311 runs at an average of 77.75. On three occasions out of the seven, he remained unbeaten till the end and hammered 35 fours and 5 sixes against them.
In fact, the last time India and Pakistan faced-off against each other, Virat scored 57 runs against Pakistan and helped India post a total of 150 runs plus.
