With folded hands, PM Modi bows before Gujarat as BJP begins historic 7th term

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) shattered all previous records to retain a historic seventh term in Gujarat in the recently concluded Assembly elections. With 156 of the 182 seats in its kitty, BJP emerged unbeatable, leaving no scope and hope for Congress or AAP.
In a grand oath-taking ceremony in Ahmedabad, BJP leader Bhupendra Patel took oath as the 18th Chief Minister of the state. In a massive show of strength, Union Minister and Chief Ministers of BJP-ruled states, along with thousands of party workers turned up in huge numbers to celebrate the record-breaking feat.
Also present at the event was Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who left no stone unturned to make sure that the state does not slip out of party’s hands. With back-to-back rallies, grand roadshows and events, PM Modi led BJP’s campaign in the state.
After the oath-taking ceremony, Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the crowd, folded his hands and bowed to the people of the Gujarat who gave BJP a victory that no other party had seen in the state before. The biggest win for any party since the formation of the state.

PM Modi hails Gujarat win

On December 8, PM Modi lauded the BJP’s landslide win in the Gujarat assembly elections, saying that the people of the state “created a record in breaking a record.”
“By giving the biggest mandate in the history of Gujarat to the BJP, the people of the state have created a new history. People here voted for the BJP rising above caste, class, community and all kinds of divisions,” he said while addressing party workers and leaders at the BJP headquarters in Delhi.
The Prime Minister said that people chose the BJP in Gujarat because the “BJP wants every facility to reach every poor, middle class family as soon as possible. People voted for BJP because it has the power to take the biggest and toughest decisions in the interest of the country.”
“The results of Gujarat have proven how strong is the desire of the common man for a developed India. The message is clear that whenever there is a challenge before the country, people show their faith in BJP,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi said.
BJP secured a record-breaking victory in the state by winning 156 of the total 182 seats of the state Assembly. This is the highest number of seats any party has won after the formation of the state in the year 1960. Congress, on the other hand, got 17 seats and new entrant AAP managed just 5 Assembly seats when the results were declared on December 8.
