Will be cheering on the team through their campaign: Jasprit Bumrah ‘gutted’ not to be a part of T20 World Cup

Team India speedster Jasprit Bumrah reacted after being ruled out of the T20 World Cup in Australia. Bumrah, who suffered a stress reaction after playing a couple of T20Is against Australia was ruled out due to the back injury, which has been caused issues for him since the England tour. Bumrah had returned during the Australian series after a two-month layoff but his injury aggravated and was subsequently ruled out of the South Africa series and the T20 World Cup as well.
Taking to Twitter, Bumrah said that he was gutted to be missing the marquee tournament, however, will be cheering for the side through his recovery during their time in Australia. “I am gutted that I won’t be a part of the T20 World Cup this time, but thankful for the wishes, care and support I’ve received from my loved ones. As I recover, I’ll be cheering on the team through their campaign in Australia,” Bumrah wrote.
“The BCCI Medical team has ruled out Team India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup squad. The decision was taken following a detailed assessment and in consultation with the specialists,” BCCI said in a release on Monday, October 3 about Bumrah’s injury.
Bumrah didn’t play a single game for India after the England tour and was ruled out of the Asia Cup due to the same back injury. However, as he returned to the fold in the Australian series, it was expected that Bumrah could get through the World Cup.
However, the persistent injury resurfaced and he had to go back to the National Cricket Academy. At first it was report that he had back stress fracture which would take him 4-6 months to return. However, later it was made clear that it was a stress reaction and the pacer could come back in 4-6 weeks.
As per TOI, Mohammed Shami is set to replace Bumrah in the T20 World Cup squad while Mohammed Siraj will be included in standbys.
