26-year-old, Matthew Paul Kuhnemann is born on September 20, 1996. The slow left-arm bowler made his Test debut at Arun Jaitley Stadium against India on February 17, 2023. In his debut Test match, he took two wickets of Virat Kohli and Mohammed Shami. The third Test match of the Border Gavaskar trophy is his second Test career match and he already took three wickets of Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Shreyas Iyer.
Kuhnemann is also well-designed with the bat, he was one of the six Rookies in Queensland’s 2016-17 squad. Coming from Gold Coast, Kuhnemann made his List-A debut for Cricket Australia XI against New South Wales in Sydney on October 2017.
The 26-year-old has also played for the Australia Under-19 team and took 35 wickets in Queensland’s Premier Cricket competition in the 2015-16 season. Kuhnemann has played just one List-A game and in that only match, he got the wicket of Kurtis Patterson and took a catch to dismiss Peter Nevill.
Matthew Kuhnemann made his ODI debut at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium against Sri Lanka on June 16, 2022. In his debut match, he bowled for 10 overs and took two wickets by giving 42 runs. His last ODI match was against Sri Lanka at R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. In his last ODI match, the slow left-arm bowler gave 26 runs and scalped two wickets in his 10 over spell.
He had a lowkey batting career in his Test debut against India, Kuhnemann scored six runs in the second test match of the Border Gavaskar trophy in Delhi. In ODI, he played four matches and scored 16 runs total, and has a highest score of 15.
In the third Test match of the four match Test series, India won the toss and opted to bat first. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill opened for the Indian side until Matthew Kuhnemann sent them off the crease. He also bowled out Shreyas Iyer in the 11.2 over. Rohit Sharma scored 12 runs in 23 balls. Shubman Gill played 18 balls and scored 18 runs, and Shreyas Iyer was unable to score any runs. During the time of writing this article, Kuhnemann gave 14 runs in his six over spell.
