Ministry Of Defence On The Trials Of Pinaka
Ministry of Defence posted on their X handle about the trials mentioning, “DRDO has successfully completed the Flight Tests of Guided Pinaka Weapon System. Various parameters such as ranging, accuracy, consistency and rate of fire for multiple target engagement in a salvo mode were assessed during the trials. The tests were conducted in three phases at different field firing ranges.”
What Is Pinaka Launcher?
The Pinaka rocket is equipped with a state-of-the-art guidance system, due to which it accurately identifies and hits the target. Pune-based DRDO laboratory, Armament Research and Development Establishment (ARDE) and High Energy Material Research Laboratory have designed and developed it. The initial range of the Pinaka rocket was about 37 kilometers, which has been increased to more than 45 kilometers. Through the Pinaka weapon system, rockets can be fired at multiple places simultaneously. Pinaka accurately identifies the target and fires the rocket at that place.
