‘We can stop Pathaan screening’! MNS leader threatens Maha theatre owners for sidelining Marathi films

Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan finally released in theatres today (January 25, 2023). As expected, the SRK fans are giving a solid response to the film, and it is expected to mint more than Rs 45 crore at the box office on day 1. After seeing a solid buzz for Pathaan, several theatres increased the shows of Pathaan. Well, their decision must have made SRK fans happy, but it didn’t go well with Maharashtra Navnirman Sena aka MNS’ Chitrapat Sena chief Ameya Khopkar.
MNS leader Ameya Khopkar threatens Maharashtra theatre owners
MNS Chitrapat Sena chief Ameya Khopkar sent a letter to all theatre owners across Maharashtra and questioned them for sidelining Marathi films such as Bamboo and Piccolo that releasing around the same time, due to Pathaan. He threatened the theatre owners for the same and said that they could disrupt Pathaan screenings in Maharashtra.
In the letter written in Marathi, Ameya Khopkar said that they are happy with Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan is releasing on a big scale and called it a big thing for Bollywood. He further questioned multiplex owners over sidelining Marathi films such as Bamboo and Piccolo due to SRK’s comeback.
 concluding his statement, Khopkar said, “Favour Pathaan, but don’t ignore Marathi films. Give them equal importance. Multiplex owners must behave sincerely, otherwise, we can stop screening of Pathaan.”

Pathaan is a spy drama directed by Siddharth Anand. Apart from Shah Rukh Khan, the film stars Deepika Padukone, John Abraham and Dimple Kapadia in pivotal roles. Despite getting a lot of hatred from some sections of people, the SRK-starrer received a bumper opening at the box office.
