Former India opener Virender Sehwag is known for his witty tweets and remarks on social media. Sehwag had launched a new show called ‘Viru ki Baithak’ on social media during the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 where he presents his pre and post-match analysis in his own style. However, one of his comments from a recent video has sparked a controversy.
Presenting his post-match analysis after the game between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) on the show, Sehwag had referred to MI skipper Rohit Sharma as ‘vada pav’. Aiming a dig at Rohit’s fitness, Sehwag jokingly said vada pav was replaced by samosa pav against CSK as Saurabh Tiwary took injured Rohit’s place in the playing XI.
“Rohit was not playing. But so what if vada pav was injured? His spot was taken by samosa pav. I mean Saurabh Tiwary. Understood why?” – Sehwag had said on his show. His comment sparked massive outrage on social media as fans lashed out at the former opener for body shaming the Mumbai Indians skipper.
