India’s swift and precise strike against Pakistan in response to the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, 2025, not just rattled the bankrupt country militarily but also instilled fear among its top leaders. Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday admitted that he was advised to move to a bunker during ‘Operation Sindoor’ in May.
Zardari admits fear amid Operation Sindoor
Speaking at an event on December 27, Zardari revealed that the Military Secretary advised him to take shelter in a bunker during New Delhi’s retaliatory strikes in May. He admitted to the intense fear that gripped the top leadership in Pakistan amid India’s Operation Sindoor.
‘Was advised to take shelter in bunker’ – Zardari makes big confession
India’s armed forces conducted strategic precision strikes targeting nine terror camps in the neighbouring country, sending tremors through Shehbaz Sharif’s government. Despite being warned by the Military Secretary, the Pakistani President offered only rhetoric. He said that he had refused to enter the bunker, stating that leaders don’t die hiding and sitting inside it.
“My MS (Military Secretary) was there. He came to me and said, ‘Sir, the war has started.’ I had actually told him four days earlier that a war was going to happen. But he came to me and said, ‘Sir, let’s go to the bunkers.’ I said, ‘If martyrdom is to come, it will come here. Leaders don’t die in bunkers. They die on the battlefield. They don’t die sitting in bunkers’,” Zardari said.
Indian armed forces rain missiles on Pak during Operation Sindoor
The Indian Army launched Operation Sindoor in the early hours of May 7 as a response to the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir that claimed 26 innocent lives on April 22. Following the operation, conflict escalated between India and Pakistan, resulting in heavy cross-border shelling from Asim Munir’s army and retaliatory action from the Indian army. In a surprising twist of events, Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) proposed a ceasefire to India’s DGMO, which was accepted.
