Vivek says he is ‘concerned’ for Ayan ‘like a mother’; accuses Karan of mocking LGBTQ community in his films

Bollywood filmmaker Ayan Mukerji’s Wake Up Sid and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani still lives in the hearts of the audience. Both starred Ranbir Kapoor in the lead roles and the movies went on to become a favourite amongst the audience. The director is now coming up with his next movie Brahmastra Part One: Shiva, featuring Ranbir and his wife Alia Bhatt in the lead roles. Ayan has been working on this project tirelessly for more than 5 years now, and the fans have high hopes from the director. However, amid the ongoing boycott Bollywood trend, it is difficult to predict the box-office numbers of Brahmastra.
Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri, whose movie The Kashmir Files earned huge numbers at the box-office, has now shared his views on Brahmastra Part One: Shiva. He also mocked Ayan claiming that the latter cannot pronounce the word ‘Brahmastra’.
Vivek told Kushal Mehra during an interaction, “Brahmastra, do they even know the meaning of that? And then they are talking about Astra Verse, what is even that? Then you put your director, who can’t even pronounce Brahmastra. He is a wonderful director. I loved his Wake Up Sid and the second film and I wish he made a wonderful film. I am concerned about him like a mother is concerned about their children. I am very disappointed. So these are the problems.”
The Tashkent Files director further accused Karan Johar of mocking LGBTQ community in his movies. Vivek Agnihotri was quoted saying, “They talk about LGBTQ activism but they themselves make fun of it. Why do Karan’s films often make fun of the LGBTQ community? Why? And they talk about activism.”
Talking about the movie, Brahmastra Part One: Shiva is an upcoming fantasy adventure film made on a budget of Rs 410 crore. Other than Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, the film also features Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy and Nagarjuna Akkineni in pivotal roles.
Brahmastra Part One: Shiva is set to hit the theatres on September 9, 2022.
