Virat Kohli’s 100th Test: Harbhajan, Jaffer, Raina lead best reactions; fans hail ‘GOAT’ for historic feat

Team India batting icon Virat Kohli registered his name in the history books on Friday, March 4 as he appeared for the 100th time in Test cricket for his national side. Before the start of the match, Kohli was presented with a special cap in honour of him playing his 100th Test match, by the head coach Rahul Dravid.
Kohli also added another feather to his cap on the way to his measured innings of 45 runs against Sri Lanka at IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali, as he became only the sixth Indian batsman to achieve 8000 runs in his Test career. Kohli he joined the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar and Rahul Dravid among others.
The 33-year old became the 12th player from India and 71st overall to play 100 matches in the longest format of the game. Kohli joined the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sunil Gavaskar, VVS Laxman, Sourav Ganguly, Virender Sehwag, Anil Kumble, Harbhajan Singh, Kapil Dev, Dilip Vengsarkar, and Ishant Sharma in a special list of players, who have represented their national team for a long period of time in the whites.
One of the members of the 100-Test club, Harbhajan Singh took to Twitter to congratulate the talismanic batsman for his achievement. “Welcome to the club 100 .. Go well champion.. Get a big 100 on ur 100th test .. Good luck,” the former off-spinner wrote.
Former India batsman and ex-batting coach of Punjab Kings, Wasim Jaffer, known as the meme-king on social media reserved special words for Kohli saying that Kohli is the heart of Test cricket. “Virat Kohli is the heart of Test Cricket. As long as he’s playing the heart will be beating strong. Congratulations on your 100th @imVkohli and best wishes for many many more 🤗 #INDvSL,” Jaffer said.
In the second session, India lost both Kohli and Hanuma Vihari in quick succession after their 90-run stand for the third wicket. Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer got the side through to the tea at the score of 199/4.
