Virat Kohli needs one more 50+ score to break Sachin Tendulkar’s record in the ICC’s limited overs tournaments

Former Indian captain Virat Kohli will look to break legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar’s unique record in the ongoing edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia. The 33-year-old right-handed batter, who is one of the greatest cricketers of all time, is just one fifty away from becoming the number one batter with the most fifty-plus scores in the history of the ICC’s limited overs tournament.
Both Sachin and Virat at present have 23 fifty-plus scores in ICC’s white-ball tournaments, and if Virat manages to score at least one fifty in Australia, then he will break Sachin’s record. Sachin has scored a total of 23 50+ scores in 61 matches. He has seven centuries and 16 fifties to his name in ICC’s white-ball tournament. While Virat has scored 2 centuries and 21 fifties
Unlike Sachin, who has featured in the ODI World Cup and Champions Trophy only, Virat has played in the T20 World Cup as well, in addition to the other premier tournaments. In fact, he has been at his best in the T20 World Cup, where in 21 matches played so far, he has 10 fifties to his name. In the ODI World Cup he scored two centuries and six fifties from 26 games, and in 13 Champions Trophy matches he has five half-centuries to his name.
On the other hand, Sachin has six tons and 15 half-centuries in 45 ODI World Cup matches and one hundred and one half-century in 16 Champions Trophy games.
Virat, who found his mojo back in the Asia Cup T20 tournament last month, will look to be at his best in Australia this year and help India win the T20 World Cup title for the first time since the 2007 edition. Virat, who has won the ODI World Cup and Champions Trophy as an Indian player, will look to complete the set in Australia this time. He has featured in 11 T20Is in Australia till date and has amassed a total of 451 runs.
