Veteran actor Vikram Gokhale passed away today (November 26) due to multiple organ failures. He was 77 and breathed his last at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital, Pune. Gokhale is survived by his wife and two children. Vikram’s demise is indeed a big loss to Indian cinema since he had been part of several popular Marathi and Hindi films.
GODAVARI DIRECTOR MOURNS VIKRAM GOKHALE DEMISE
Godavari was Vikram Gokhale’s last Marathi film. It received several accolades at film festivals such as IFFI 2021 Goa, Pune International Film Festival, 2021 Vancouver International Film Festival, New Zealand International Film Festival and so on. Vikram played a pivotal role in the film, which also stars Jitendra Joshi, Neena Kulkarni, Gauri Nalawade, Sanjay Mone and others in key roles.
Directed by Nikhil Mahajan, Godavari was released in India on December 3, 2021. After learning about Vikram Gokhale’s demise, director Nikhil Mahajan got emotional and mourned his demise. He told Etimes, “I consider myself very fortunate that I could direct Vikram Gokhale for ‘Godavari‘. I have always admired his work and it is been very inspirational. It is very unfortunate for the industry to have lost a veteran actor like Vikram Gokhale.”
For the unversed, Vikram Gokhale worked in several Hindi films such as Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Khuda Gawah, Agneepath, Tum Bin, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, De Dana Dan and so on. He acted in Marathi films such as Bhingri, Kalat Nakalat, Natsamrat, Maherchi Sadi, Bala Gau Kashi Angai, Anumati, Aaghaat and so on.
