With his hard work and never give up attitude, Vijay Deverakonda turned his dream of becoming a superstar into reality and is now an inspiration to many. After making a name for himself down South, Vijay is now aiming to win over the Hindi audience as he is all set for his Bollywood debut with Liger.
During a recent interview, Vijay went back in time to recall his early days of struggle in the Telugu industry, which is known to be dominated by film families and star kids. For a rank outsider like Vijay, to break into the nepotistic industry was a huge task.
Reminiscing on the difficult times, Vijay said, “It’s not easy. If someone wants to attempt it, it’s probably the single hardest thing I have had to do in my life. To find a platform where your voice can be heard and you can be seen as an actor. It was really hard.”
Further, talking about how he had the notion that filmmakers would cast him based on his performances in theatre, the Arjun Reddy actor added, “When I finished theatre, I thought I would announce I want to be an actor and all the producers will line up. I thought I’ll debut and I’ll become an actor. But suddenly when I wanted to, there was nowhere to go or talk to. Nobody was looking.”
He continued, “I would apply for audition calls and then wait for casting opportunities, like every struggling actor does. Every night I would sleep with a thought that I would get a call.”
As he persevered, things finally fell into place when Vijay and his friends raised money and made Pelli Choopulu, which went on to win a National Award. The 33-year-old actor hasn’t looked back since!
In his maiden Hindi venture Liger, Vijay stars opposite Ananya Panday. The Puri Jagannadh directorial will release on August 25.
