Ambar Kothare no more
Ambar Kothare’s last rites were performed by his actor-son Mahesh Kothare in Borivali, Mumbai. The late artist is survived by his wife, son, daughter-in-law, grandson, granddaughter-in-law and great-granddaughter. His demise is indeed a big loss for Marathi theatres and cinema.
For the unversed, in 2020, Addinath Kothare penned an appreciation note for his grandfather Ambar Kothare on Instagram. The actor had written, “There is a lot I learn about life from my grandfather. At 94 he sits like a king in the corner of the ring. Keeps his gloves on and wipes the sweat off his chest with every physical challenge life throws his way. We brought him back from the hospital last evening after recovering completely from a slight stomach infection in just 2 days. His memory has begun to fail him but that doesn’t stop him from enjoying a chilled glass of beer with his loved ones. He has journeyed through all ups and downs with the same smile and energy he bears now on his face in this picture. There is almost a century of human spirit beaming through every inch of his body. Nothing in life is serious. If you are alive, be happy. If you are alive, keep smiling (sic).”
