Uunchai Day 1 BO Collection: Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher’s film mints Rs 1.81 crore

Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher and Boman Irani’s Uunchai, which marks the directorial comeback of Sooraj Barjatya, hit the theatres on Friday. The movie, also starring Neena Gupta, Parineeti Chopra, Danny Denzongpa and Sarika, is about the journey of three friends to Mount Everest. It has received positive reviews from the audience.
On Day 1 at the box office, the movie managed to mint Rs 1.81 crore despite being released on limited screens. It is expected to collect more money in the coming days given the positive word of mouth.
Sharing the figures, film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted on Saturday, “Limited screens [483]… Limited shows [2 to 4 shows per day at prime properties]… Yet, #Uunchai finds its share of audience… Decent Day 1… Fares much, much better than most mid-range films with higher screen count + shows… Fri ₹ 1.81 cr. #India biz.”
“Like #MainePyarKiya and #HAHK, #Rajshri has decided to release #Uunchai in phase-wise manner at centres/cinemas where the film hasn’t released yet… The word of mouth is positive, but the showcasing is restricted in Week 1, which will gradually increase in the coming weeks,” he added in the follow up tweet.
Days before the release, Amitabh had requested his fans to watch the movie in cinema halls.
Uunchai is clashing at the box office with the much-awaited Hollywood film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. It has made 10 times more money than the Sooraj Barjatya film. Its box office collection in India on Day 1 was reportedly Rs 15 crore.
