On Sunday, legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar passed away. Many celebrities from Bollywood arrived at the singer’s funeral to pay their last respects. Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan also attended the funeral. Soon after, a video of Shah Rukh took over the internet and many blamed him for ‘spitting’ at the funeral.
In the viral video, SRK, who had come with his manager Pooja Dadlani, could be seen folding his hands and raising them in prayer. He was then seen blowing out air from his mouth as he bent over the singer’s mortal remains. For those who don’t know, blowing out air is a part of the prayer for the departed soul in Islam.
As soon as the video started circulating online, netizens started slamming SRK. Some were even seen supporting the actor. Now, Urmila Matondkar has reacted to the controversy.
As per India Today, Urmila has said, “As a society, we have deteriorated so much that we think praying is spitting. You are talking about an actor who has represented the country on various international platforms. Politics has reached such low levels and it’s really sad.”
Meanwhile, after Mangeshkar’s tragic demise, Urmila had shared a heartfelt post on social media to mourn the loss. She wrote, “Apart from being a #Legend an exemplary life of a #Daughter of #India who showed us what a daughter can achieve n stand tall for the entire #family #RIPLataMangeshkar सबको सन्मती दे भगवान.”
On Monday, the singer’s ashes were collected by her nephew Adinath Mangeshkar from Shivaji Park, where she was cremated with full state honours.
On the work front, SRK has been away from the silver screen for a long time now. He was last seen in Aanand L Rai’s Zero alongside Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma. The superstar will now be seen sharing screen space with Deepika Padukone in Pathan. While an official announcement is awaited, Deepika had shared the same in an interview. Reportedly, the actor has signed a few more projects as well.
