TV actress Upasana Singh, who also works widely in Punjabi films, has filed a case against Miss Universe Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu for alleged breach of contract.
Yes, you read that right. Singh has filed a case against Sandhu ‘for not honoring her commitment’ to a Punjabi film and being unprofessional.
Upasana has also reportedly claimed damages from Harnaaz Kaur who is unresponsive to her calls. The case has been filed in Chandigarh Court through advocates Karam Sachdeva and Irvan Neet Kaur.
According to the suit, in the year 2020, Sandhu, after winning the prestigious Femina Miss India entered into an agreement with Santosh Entertainment Studio LLP, to produce a Punjabi film featuring her, titled Bai Ji Kuttange.
Singh had signed Sandhu as the lead actor for the movie. According to the agreement, it was specifically agreed between the two parties that the artist would make herself available throughout the promotional activities of the film. It was agreed that the artist must be present in person as well as virtually for the promotional events.
However, Sandhu allegedly evaded all her professional and contractual commitments and ignored all lines of communication made by the production house and the concerned stakeholders. Harnaaz was reportedly absent for all the promotional activities and even distanced herself from the cast and crew.
The film has lost its distributors leading to the compromise of the release date. The release date is now postponed from May 27, 2022, to August 19, 2022.
Upasana further claimed that she mentored and taught Sandhu how to act. She even made sure that she looked perfect in every shot and let her stay at her place in Mumbai. Singh also claimed that whatever she did, she did out of pure love for Harnaaz and how she is very hurt by the way Miss Universe treated her.
