UP polls 2022: Sonia Gandhi, Rahul among Congress’ star campaigners for first phase

The Congress  released its list of 30 star campaigners for the first phase of the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections that includes the names of its chief Sonia Gandhi and party leader Rahul Gandhi.

The list also features senior party leader and former prime minister Manmohan Singh, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Sachin Pilot.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and his Rajasthan counterpart are also among the leaders who will campaign for the party in the first phase of the polls.

In the first phase of the elections on February 10, 58 Assembly constituencies spread over 11 districts will go to polls, according to the Election Commission.

The districts where voting will be held in this phase include Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Mathura and Agra.

Elections in Uttar Pradesh are slated to be held in seven phases on February 10, 14, 20, 23, March 3 and 7 and the results will be announced on March 10.

Last week, the BJP released its list of its 30 star campaigners for the first phase of the UP polls.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, party national president JP Nadda, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and state’s BJP chief Swatantra Dev Singh are part of the list
