Indian cricket icon Virat Kohli, who has been the subject of an intense debate among, fans, cricketers and experts, hadn’t yet broken his silence on the debate regarding his place in the team. On Saturday, Kohli took to Twitter and gave a subtle response to critics with a beautiful post on Twitter.
On the tour of England, Kohli has had scores of 11, 20, 1, 11 and 16. His poor show with the bat has seen many advise him rest whereas some have even gone on to suggest replacing him with another player.
On Twitter, Kohli shared a brilliant post that sums up his perspective towards the entire scenario. In the post, Virat could be seen sitting in front of a wall where it is written: “What if I fall??….ohh but my darling, what if you fly”.
Runs haven’t been coming from Kohli’s bat for a long time. The last time he touched the triple-digit score was in November 2019 against Bangladesh in a pink-ball Test at home. However, Kohli’s rut seems to have worsened since the 2021 T20 World Cup.
Since the conclusion of the showpiece event, Kohli has gone on to be replaced by Rohit Sharma as the skipper in all three formats of the game. While some believe his current issues are technical, others feel it’s all mindset.
Though there are some who want the selectors to make the tough call and drop Kohli, especially in the T20 format, skipper Rohit Sharma has continued to back him. Rohit, in multiple press conferences, has given all of his support to the former India skipper. The Hitman suggests it is only a matter of time before Kohli returns to his peak form and roars again.
Rohit is firmly of the opinion that one or two good knocks would be enough to get Kohli back and firing.
Kohli would next be seen in action in the 3rd and final ODI against England in Manchester. With the series levelled 1-1, India would be determined to win the contest and head home with the series under their belt.
